Another Life of Flowers
28.10.2024 – 28.11.2024
Venue: Mox bureau. 12 Staromonetny Lane, Moscow
Curator: Tatiana Getman
The MOX Bureau has opened a new group exhibition "Another Life of Flowers", dedicated to flowers as keepers of memories, family traditions, their own fragile plots and mystical experiences. Six artists working in different techniques from scans and graphics to textiles and engraving showed a different life of flowers, hidden from the eyes of an observer.
The exhibition features specially created works by MYTH Gallery artists Alina Glazoun and Katya Isaeva. So, Alina Glazoun created a floral series of 20 sheets, telling the story of looking at a family photo album. Alina suggests mentally to replace "a photo of a chrysanthemum with a grandmother and aunt and unpacking the most painful memories". Katya Isaeva's work consists of two rhymed parts inspired by the collection of fresh flowers of the MOX studio, as well as poems by Emily Dickinson — an American poet and passionate gardener. In the first part, textile, Katya uses Dickinson's herbarium sheets and lines from her poems, as well as live and dried flowers from the MOX studio, which also participate in the second part, the Impossible Herbarium. In her Herbarium, Katya creates new species from parts of plants and flowers and fixes them using the scanning technique.
