The Skin of the Earth
30.05.2025 – 01.10.2025
Venue: Mytny market and Ermolaevs' hotel. Nizhniy Novgorod
Nizhny Novgorod has launched the International Biennale of Ecological Art, featuring over 100 contemporary artists. Over six months, exhibitions and events of the main project will be showcased across six key cultural venues in the city. This pioneering multidisciplinary project—entirely dedicated to rethinking the relationship between humans and nature - presents installations, video art, photography, paintings, graphic works, and sculptures.
The central exhibition "The Skin of the Earth" focuses on Earth's delicate surface layer, comparable to skin, and its vital role in planetary life. The development of both the biosphere and human civilization itself is intrinsically linked to the soil layer. Positioned at the intersection of all geospheres, it serves as: a convergence point for ecological systems, a source of biodiversity, a genetic repository of life, an interface facilitating exchange between Earth's depths and the "layer of thinking substance"—humanity's planetary impact zone, including the technosphere.
The exhibition features works by Ulyana Podkorytova.
