My little protest
18.02.2017 – 19.02.2017
Venue: QuartaRiata, Peterhof
Project “My little protest” by Nikita Seleznev was created during artist’s residence in Qurtariata. Main part of the project is the series of small gilded figurines, located in the most unexpected places what depicts three images of Russian actionism: “E.T.I.- TEXT” 1991, dog-man Oleg Kulik and “Fixing” by Petr Pavlensky. Fetishization of the stranger’s heroism- it is the ironic gesture of the artist. These objects placed in the interior of the fashionable creative space demonstrate the ability of capitalism to absorb any art and turn it into commodity. The final commodification has been done. That was a heroic provocation what the gilded figurines imply. This means the provocation in other sphere that undermines the norms developed in the system of contemporary art.
