The title is based on the work of the same name by Alina Glazoun – a mysterious mirror object. The exhibition invites to take a look at the images and themes that have been worrying the artists for the last six months. In these works, the need to seek the answers develops in the conditions of the game, alternative reality and modern Russian fairy tale.
During th troubled times we look for answers by gazing into the phone screens, the faces of others and ourselves. You can appeal to a mirror or tarot cards, but all the images received will be indistinct, blurred. Only endless reflections of reflections are available, the language familiar to us is transformed into Orwellian Newspeak. What will we see when the fog of vague images, assumptions, guesses and hints dissipates? Will mirrors remain neutral?
Some of the works have already been exhibited at GES-2 (Ulyana Podkorytova), at the Sphere Foundation for Contemporary Art (Liza Bobkova), at the stand of our gallery at the blazer 2021 art fair (Anna Afonina).
Video works, installations, paintings and graphics initiate a dialogue, ask universal and everyday questions, talk about the nature of anxiety and anger and try to get through the fog of vague images in their own way.
