Apologue
23.02.2024 – 07.04.2024
The works of the collaborative project "Apologue" by Olga Bozhko and Irina Korina are united by a feeling of sadness about things, places, kinds and sensations that many of us still remember but which quickly and irrevocably vanish and disappear. The artists talk about the inevitability of rethinking our past, about detachment and the breaking of the links of a previously indestructible firm chain. They reflex about things that seem deeply personal and at the same time are common and universal. This is often done by placing a sacred value on simple objects that have no high artistic value. Works immerse the viewer in a borderline state between sleep and reality, evoke a wave of personal memories, which are inevitably changed under the reign of time and our memory. Olga and Irina in some ways seek to create the effect of a broken TV that broadcasts mutated messages and pictures. They grow in our minds new stories, myths and legends, distorted by their transmission and perception, as well as blurring the line between the past and the present.
The project was implemented with the support of the Iragui Gallery, the XL Gallery, and The Vaults Centre for Artistic Production.
Gathering is the media partner of the exhibition.
