21.12.2019 – 22.01.2020
Venue:
Curator: Dasha Bludova, Katya Finkelshtein
The exhibition is part of a Parallel program of the 8th Moscow international Biennale of contemporary art. The exhibition includes works by 34 contemporary artists from Russia and Europe, made in different mediums: graphics, paintings, installations, video art, photographs, audio installations.
The exhibition “Focal Points” reveals the theme of finding one’s own identity through the collected and reworked experience. Whether it’s the personal experience of the author or the experience of a whole generation. Trying to find the constituent elements inside and outside of yourself. Go beyond your understanding by changing the point of perception to find a different entrance to the existing reality. To put together individual pieces and to have integrity.
Collecting the artifacts of the surrounding reality into objects and compositions, the artists grope their way to their mosaic individuality and reflect on the problem of self-determination through interaction with real space in this multi-layered information-chaotic world.
The exhibition feature works created in different genres, which tell about the search for a modern man moment of harmony of the inner world and the endless chaos of events beyond. Authors look for points of connection of different planes, adapt to the existing reality or define their own points of Assembly of a new reality.
The initiator of the exhibition project, which became a platform for dialogue between authors of different art schools and cultural spaces, was the independent art community Young Russian Artists with the participation of the gallery “on Sandy”.
