Tidings
02.08.2024 – 02.12.2024
Venue: Russian Museum, Benois Wing. 2 Griboyedov Canal, St. Petersburg
The groundbreaking exhibition "Tidings" dedicated to the problem of transmission, reception and reliability of information in its artistic interpretation has opened in the Benois Wing of the Russian Museum. For the first time in the history of russian museums, this topic has become the leitmotif of a large-scale exhibition, which will showcase about 300 works from museum and private collections. Combining works from different eras – from ancient Russian art to street and science art, the Russian Museum presents a vivid exhibition project that covers both wings of the Benoit Wing.
The exhibition presents the work of Katya Isaeva "Gogol's play "Morning of a Business Man" for five or six faxes", 2016. There are five chapters in the play, each of which was copied in advance by Katya to a separate fax. The viewer can extend the text up to 30 meters by clicking on the "copy" button. The non-stop process of reproducing the text turns into a metaphor for everyday civil servant routine.
