HOD

An association of thirteen unknown artists.

We’re HOD. Perhaps you are familiar with someone's work, or perhaps you are seeing someone for the first time. It doesn't matter. As well as our names, age, education, CV, artist statement and so on do not matter. Tomorrow we can completely change the line-up, and you won't know about it.

We’re HOD. Each of our actions is the next move. We are entering into a dialogue with representatives of contemporary art institutions. We want to test their trust and willingness to interact with unknown art.

We’re HOD. Each of us has our own creative path that we go through together. We focus on our own vision and worldview.

HOD #1

Thirteen unknown artists.

Thirteen unknown works of art.

Thirteen backpacks, in which were hidden works of artists.

One goal is to realize the exhibition of the association in the gallery.

In November 2023, we sent letters to several contemporary art galleries and offered to hold an exhibition in their spaces. Result of our action: rejection.

In December 2023, we visited five contemporary art galleries. But we did not show our works: they were in our backpacks. 

The result of the action: MYTH Gallery decided to trust us, unknown artists, and hold an exhibition. Only after agreeing, we showed our work.

The artist plays an important role in the contemporary art market: name, awards, number of personal exhibitions, etc. This information influences the formation of the value of his works and the interest of the collector. We remove all this data and leave only the work and our statement. The gallery's trust is important to us, its willingness to show the works of artists that no one knows. Is the gallery taking a risk in this case? Definitely!
