Location: Музей современного искусства «Гараж»
Dates: 26.03.2021 – 01.08.2021
On 26 of March, the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art presented the joint exhibition «Assuming distance speculations fakes and predictions in the age of the coronacene» in which Nikita Seleznev and Genda Fluid took part.
The installation by Genda Fluid (Antonina Baever) «Soul piercing, Aura kissing, Mind blowing» made of neon and led signboards was created especially for the exposition "Assuming the distance". Within the program Garage Live the artist showed the performance "The Lockdown S-song". Composition’s text was written during the self-isolation caused by the pandemic of COVID-19 in its musical form inherit the spirituals and blues. It does not become a reference to spiritual chants but more likely a liberatory collective mantra.
Nikita Seleznev’s work appears to be the adaptation of the «Karate poetry» project led in 2020 in MYTH Gallery. Especially for the exhibition, the project was supplemented by the series of new objects created during the artist’s residence in the Garage Studios.
Using the pandemic of COVID-19 as a point of inner reference, Museum invited authors and Russian creative collectives to take any convenient distance in relation to the current situation and consider speculation as a form of interaction with reality.
