Nikita Seleznev and Anna Afonina for the VII Moscow International Biennale for Young Art
Dates: 03.11.2020 – 06.12.2020
On November 3, 2020, the opening of the second part of the Main Project of the VII Moscow International Biennale for Young Art took place. Four winning projects of an open competition for curators was presented to the public. One of them is “I don't know if the Earth is spinning or not ...” curated by Lizaveta Matveyeva(Russia) and Francesca Altamura (USA).
The main platform of the project was the digital platform notspinning.world, for which the artists participating in the project created multimedia works that reveal actual fears and anxieties in an absurd form using black humor, satire, and irony. The digital platform is available from November 3 and will operate with the offline exhibition at the same time.
Nikita Seleznev presented the film "At the Tip of the Tongue" with fragments of scenes representing love relationships. The collage underpins the film is made up of images found online. Among them are shots from films, amateur and advertising photos, works of artists, posters, and more. An installation was built specifically to create the video, consisting of concrete slabs painted by the artist.
Anna Afonina together with Anastasia Korotkova, Maria Romanova, and Valeria Gray created an interactive project "Vorozheya" in the format of a web page. The artists invite the viewer to explore the space and inhabitants of an abandoned coastal camp. Here you can wander for a long time along the shabby corridors of memories, correspond in ICQ with Globster, tease your appetite with dishes from the menu of the sanatorium canteen. Whatever you do here, you will hardly be able to avoid flashbacks in your teenage years.
The projects of the second part of the Main Project of the Biennale will be available for viewing until December 6, 2020.
